Return to Texas!

I'm flying out of Memphis this afternoon for two of my favorite stops on the book tour road -- Bookpeople in Austin on Friday @7 and Murder By the Book in Houston on Saturday @4:30. I've been hitting the press tour pretty hard and had a great time with Alex Coleman and Marybeth Conley here in town at Live at 9. Check out our interview here. Friday night in Austin is always great especially with my pal, Scott Montgomery and looking forward to my annual visit to Iron Works Barbecue. Austin means great local music, beer, and food. I'll update here with photos. Houston means top notch Mexican and a visit with pals at one of the country's great book stores, Murder By the Book. Very excited that third Quinn novel is out across the country today. I appreciate the continued support of my readers!

Spenser Tour: Day 3 & 4

Just arrived St. Louis with writers and pals: Megan Abbott, Reed Farrel Coleman, and Hank Phillippi Ryan. We all had a speaking event later that night at the St. Louis Public Library.

Next afternoon in Albuquerque. Main drag through town -- the famed Route 66.

A lawsuit in the works.

Lunch at the Standard Diner in Albuquerque was so good I returned after my book event  -- the Southwest Book Fiesta -- for dinner.
The historic KiMo in downtown Albuquerque.

Cool mural off Central Avenue.

Spenser Tour: Day 2

NEW YORK-- Well, to be honest, I'm checking in from the lovely Newark airport. I arrived at Penn Station yesterday from Boston and had lunch with my editor before spending most of the day signing stock for WONDERLAND and THE BROKEN PLACES. I made my way down to TriBeCa for signings at Otto Penzler's Mysterious Books. Drinks before with the amazing Megan Abbott -- one of my favorite writers. There was much talk about Robert Altman, Dashiell Hammett, and why Miss Abbott refuses to see the new The Great Gatsby movie. I'm interested myself and may try and catch a showing while out on the road. My busy day in New York was topped off with dinner with David Parker, respected choreographer and son of the late Robert B. Parker. As happens in NYC, a couple interesting occurrences: I sat next to actor Damian Lewis  - Band of Brothers -- at breakfast and later my driver was once the guitarist for both Roberta Flack and Harry Belafonte! Cincinnati is tonight. Joseph-Beth Booksellers @ 7 to talk Spenser, beer, and ask why Cincinnatians put chili on spaghetti. -- Ace

Spenser Tour: Day 1

BOSTON -- I got into town on Monday, checked into hotel in the Back Bay, and went right to Davio's for a lobster roll and Sam Adams on tap. That night I walked to Fenway on Newbury Street -- perfect cool Boston night -- and watched the Sox beat the Twins in extra innings. Tuesday was filled with back-to-back book signings and press across Boston highlighted with a talk with the great Joan Parker at Barnes & Noble. Another real highlight was having lunch (along with a whiskey and several glasses of wine) at the historic Tavern Club with new pal Jim Bride. The club is a private society that has hosted readings for Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling! Truly old Boston with dark paneled walls and linen table cloths. Now I'm onto New York City for a mass book signing at the Putnam mothership and then a talk on Spenser at the Mysterious Bookshop in TriBeCa with my pal, Otto Penzler. More soon -- Ace
